Well, I've been enjoying my first true holiday in a while.. at my old library job, I had to work through most "traditional" holiday periods in the winter and summer.
I've watched the whole first season of a show I'd heard a lot about, Glee. It's quite good! Well, the musicals are a bit too auto-tuned, but it's still a lot more entertaining than most teen dramas on TV these days, which I have also been watching...
I've also checked out the main branch of the VPL which is quite a lot bigger than the main branch back in Ottawa. They have a really complete collection of history books, or so it seems to me anyways, although their books don't have the year of publication on the spine label, which is too bad. It may be like that to cover up the fact that they don't seem to have a lot of new books.. but anyways, I got books on stuff our system back in Ottawa never had anything about, like one about Crimean Tatars. As for graphic novels, they do have a pretty good collection, but I've basically read all the ones I would be interested in, since at my old work I spent five years reading the good and the bad GNs.
Hey, I got an A in all 4 of my classes last semester ;) |

| | Belf's Rumenian Orchestra | ] | Heh, the white kittie is really getting cabin fever! As you'll recall, she was supposed to be finally reunited a few weeks ago with her old housemate, the black kittie. However, through some mixups on my dad's part, she is still back in Ottawa and the white kittie is still stuck with us apes.
Lately she's been amusing herself more and more in trad. cat fashion by watching the wildlife outside the windows, but once in a while another cat walks into our yard and she really gets agitated.
One particular pale, bushy-tailed orange tomcat who I've encountered on the street before walked into our yard yesterday afternoon while I was watching Star Trek TNG, and I could tell something was up because of the frantic way the kittie was running back and forth between windows.
When she sees another cat outside, she starts getting out of breath, running from window to window, meowing machine-gun meows including really grating desperate ones, and if you touch her, you can feel her little heart beating dangerously fast.
If you open the window, she tries forcing her head thru the crack and meows desperately at the other cat, who seems to just look back with dead, uninterested eyes.
OK, maybe I'm getting cabin fever too, if I'm thinking about this so much.. |
